Some great ways to ring in 2017!

The holidays have officially wrapped up and it’s time to celebrate new beginnings, in style. Instead of your classic New Year’s party this year, spice things up a little with these fun themes. You and your guests are sure to have an unforgettable night!

1. Get Out & Glamp

Time to take the party into the wilderness… Well, at least to your backyard! Glamping (glamorous camping) is the perfect way to bring your party both indoor and outdoor. Deck your space out with colored lanterns, wood elements and smoky accents. your perfect party. For an outdoor adventure, bring out the fire pit to roast some s’mores and bundle up for a night of fun.

Tic Tac Toe

The kiddos will love this one! To give the classic tic tac toe game more of a glamp vibe, buy a wood slab and paint a thick tic tac toe grid on the top. Buy or find eight pebbles and paint four of them with X’s and the others with O’s. For something more versatile, buy chalkboard paint and cover the top of the slab so you can use it for other occasions besides New Year’s Eve.

Trail Mix Bar

Head to your local Homegoods and pick up some of these decorative nature bowls. Most likely, they’ll be advertised as candle holders. Just take the votive piece out, wash and fill with your favorite nuts, mixes and snacks. You can even use this as your S’Mores station if you want.

S’Mores Station

To create a one-stop-shop for your guests, build s’mores boxes that have everything they need before they head out to the campfire. Buy clear boxes from either Michael’s or Walmart and fill them with enough marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers to make two or three s’mores each. Your guests will love the convenience and the creativity!

2. Jet-Setter Adventure

One of the most consistent and top ranking New Year’s resolutions is to travel more. With this theme, your friends and family will be chomping at the bit for New Year’s Eve to come.

Destination Wheel

Any kind of prize wheel is a guaranteed success. To make it universal for any party you throw, make it a dry-erase prize wheel. Then, write in popular tourist attractions or get creative by including beautiful hiking trails or springs. For those of you on a budget, pressed for time or want a craft for the kids, check out this cardboard wheel tutorial.

Scratch Off

Fortune cookies could be a great addition to your travel-inspired party but we thought we’d step it up a notch and put a spin on that normal tradition. Instead, create your own DIY scratch offs to really blow your guests away. Using Canva, you can create a template similar to this one but instead of putting a coupon code, put the name of a top destination that your guests aspire to travel to in 2017 and one to three things they can go see or do.

Potluck Around The World

Turn this New Year’s Eve party into a pot luck adventure and have each guest bring. Similar to Secret Santa, you can put pieces of paper in a bag with different countries on them and have your friends draw from the bag a week or two in advance. Then, each guest can select a dish or dessert they’ll bring based on the country they drew. Think: macarons from Paris, pizza bites from Italy, etc.

3. Last Hoorah Party

This is a theme that can get all of your guests pumped for the next year. A majority of people participate in New Year’s resolutions or at least set goals they want to achieve. Get your guests to send you in their resolutions and base your activities, decor and food accordingly. So celebrate this last hoo-rah the before you give up those sweets, start your gym plan over again, or cut cold-turkey on the caffeine.

Donut Wall

Let’s be real, most of us are probably attempting or have considered giving up the sweets. If that’s the case (or if your guests are trying to give them up), make a celebratory donut wall with different flavors. Want to take it a step further? Make a salted caramel fondue bar too!

Emoji Cornhole

A majority of us probably checked Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest before reading this post. If we’re going to be completely honest here, some of us spend way too much time on our phones. Before deactivating your accounts, play some cornhole with your recently used emojis. Upcycle your cornhole bags by painting the emoji faces on them.

Heads Up! Game

If you don’t already have the Heads Up! app, you should go download it right now. No matter what the party theme, this is always a hit. It’s the easiest way to get your guests mingling and breaking the ice. Depending on what vibe you’re going for, there are categories for movies, accents, adult-only, music, act it out, and many more.

4. Taco ‘Bout 2017

Time to channel your inner Cinco de Mayo for the ultimate fiesta. Trade the champagne for tequila this year to switch it up and put your guests in the fiesta mindset. Whether you are

Ultimate Margarita and Taco Station

Keeping the party size in mind, make enough meat or vegetarian filling so that each guest can make two or three mini tacos. Spice things up by making sriracha salt to add an extra kick to your margs. Cut jalapeño slices, mix up one of these unique salsas, and complete the station with salsa, queso and guac.

Fortune Piñata

Piñatas always make a party ten times better. Going along with the theme, make your own taco or buy a cactus-inspired one. What’s really going to set this piñata over the top is using fortune cookies as the filling. Mix candy with wrapped fortune cookies and make sure that each guest gets a fortune when it breaks.

Tissue Paper Decor

By far, this is the most affordable way to style your party and sprinkle uniqueness throughout. Go to Walmart or your local Dollar Store and buy different colored or printed tissue paper. Using scissors, you can make anything from fringed placemats to decorative skirts for your chip bowl to festive goodie bags.

5. Refresh Revolution

Drum roll, please. The Pantone color of the year is…. Greenery! In case you missed the memo, the organic, mind and body trend hasn’t hit its peak yet. From weddings to gifts to decor, you’ve definitely been exposed to this shade in the past year. Throwing a greenery-themed New Year’s party will not only be different, but your guests will love the good vibes radiating through the refreshing decorations.

2017 is the year of revitalization and rejuvenation so be sure to incorporate this ambiance through party favors and decor. Depending on when you start your party, a fun and interactive way to keep guests entertained is to incorporate theme hours. Because this whole get together is surrounded around re-energizing for the new year, focus on activities that will refresh you up until the clock strikes midnight. Check out our refresh revolution inspiration:

DIY Aromatherapy Candles

Were you ever anxious, difficulty remembering things, achy, frustrated or had trouble sleeping last year? Well, aromatherapy candles can relieve some of your tension and keep you balanced for the next year. Get two or three different essential oils and place little info cards in front of them to let your guests know how they affect their body and mind. Bonus: use green dye to add some pops of Greenery into your decor!

Yoga at Home

Not exactly a pro yogi? No worries. Have your guests bring a towel or yoga mat and use a projector to broadcast this 40 minute yoga workout for beginners right from your very own home! This workout focuses on building foundation and flexibility, which can be a key theme for your upcoming year.

Substitute Soda for Infused Water

This is a great (and inexpensive) touch for both kid-friendly and adult-only parties. Infused water can be awesome for your metabolism and flushes toxins from your body. If you’re looking for an alcohol-free option, try out three or four infused water recipes. Add some tonic with gin or vodka for an adult version.

However you’re planning in on ringing in the new year, from all of us here at Fracture we hope that it is your best year yet. Let the countdown to 2017 begin.
